wood, printed polyester fabric, LED lights
182.88 cm diameter
Commission for the University of Guelph

Bearing the image of a hide drum from the Semaganis Worme family’s collection and inspired by the glow of life-giving entities like fire and celestial bodies in the sky, this installation features dynamic light meant to evoke the warmth, comfort and sense of connection that permeates at sites of gathering. The lights have been coded from an audio recording of our Collective sharing and spilling tea. Informed by intellectual traditions surrounding care, animacy, and our own dialogical practice, this work is about community, visiting, and relationship-building in safe and nourishing spaces that bring both joy and sustenance - like the kitchen table or fireside - where food, tea, stories and laughter are shared.
